We encourage all patients to SAVE TIME AND BOOK ONLINE.  Our easy to use online booking system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Take advantage of this super convenient system by going to www.jamesstreetmedical.com.au/online were you can select your preferred Doctor, date and time. 

You can make an appointment by either phoning the surgery on 07 49391711 or booking online at www.jamesstreetmedical.com.au/online. Standard appointments are fifteen (15) minutes in duration.  We ask that patients advise the reception staff if they require an extended consultation.

Level A, Item 3 Consultation:               $40.00

Level B, Item 23 Consultation              $75.00

Level C, Item 36 Consultation:             $110.00

Level D, Item 44 Consultation:             $145.00

 

URGENT AFTER HOUR CONSULTATIONS:

Hours between 7am - 11pm, Item 597:        $160.00

Hours between 11pm - 7am, Item 599:        $180.00

 

THE POLICY OF THIS PRACTICE IS THAT PAYMENT IS MADE ON THE DAY OF VISIT

MEDICARE REBATE CAN BE PROCESSED AT TIME OF PAYMENT

SCRIPT REQUESTS (as approved by GP):        $10.00

PLASTER CASTS (per roll used):                        $15.00

DRESSINGS: First consultation; dressing costs are included then patient is to provide supplies as per GP instruction.

 

PLEASE ADVISE RECEPTIONIST AT YOUR TIME OF BOOKING IF YOU REQUIRE EXTRA TIME FOR YOUR CONSULTATION.

 

ALL CONCESSION CARD HOLDERS and ALL CHILDREN UNDER 16 are BULKBILLED (except for urgent after hour consults).

 

HEALTH ASSESSMENTS (OVER 75 YEARS AND ABORIGINAL AND/OR TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER PATIENTS), CARE PLANS AND REVIEWS FOR CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT are BULKBILLED.

 

MINOR SURGERY: AN AVERAGE GAP OF $25.00 per procedure AFTER MEDICARE REBATE.

Script Renewal Policy

James Street Medical Centre believes in providing the highest quality healthcare for its patients, therefore a strict script renewal policy is adhered to.  If your script has run out you will be required to see one of our doctors.  We suggest making an appointment to see your doctor when you collect your last repeat from the pharmacist.    

Reminder/Recall/Results System

For all the pathology/xray results patients are encouraged to phone the surgery on either Tuesday or Thursday between 12-1pm and speak to our practice nurse. Patients with abnormal results will be contacted by the surgery for a follow up appointment.

 

A reminder notice offering preventative healthcare (e.g. immunisation, pap smears, health assessments and chronic disease management) may be issued.  

Sending Patient Information via Email

Our practice is mindful that even if patients have provided electronic contact details, they may not be proficient in communicating via electronic means and patient consent needs to be obtained before engaging in electronic communication. Electronic communication includes email, facsimile and Short Message Service (SMS). Please read our Email Policy below for more information.

Telephoning the Doctor

The doctor is contactable during normal hours by telephone; a message will be taken and the call returned as soon as possible except in case of emergency when the call is transferred immediately.

After Hours Care

This practice provides 24 hour, 7 days a week care for our patients.  For urgent problems after hours, please contact the doctor on call by phoning 49391711.  If a consult is required the doctor on call will advise which location: at the surgery, the home or Aged Care Facility.  The fee for an after hours consultation varies according to time of the day, the length of consultation and whether a procedure is needed.

Home Visits

Home visits are available for regular patients of the practice who, because of their medical condition, are unable to attend the surgery.  Visits are also made to patients in aged care facilities and hospitals.

Patient Confidentiality and Privacy

This practice is bound by the Commonwealth Privacy Act – Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000. A copy of our privacy policy is available below of can be requested at our reception desk. Our staff sign a privacy and confidentiality agreement at the commencement of their employment.

If you wish to provide feedback please notify the reception staff.  There is also a suggestion box and complaint forms located in the waiting room.  We believe that problems are best dealt within the practice; however, if your concerns cannot be dealt with by James Street Medical Centre you can contact either AHPRA (Medical Registration Board) 1300 419 495 or Health Quality Complaints Commission 07 3234 0272.
